The Beers from 2010

Pocktoberfest regular?  Are you struggling to remember the names of those fantastic ales you quaffed in 2010?  No problems, we know what it's like, every name sounds the same after a few.   So here you go, the list from 2010.

Real Ale

Tom Woods - Dark Mild (3.50%)

A deep ruby coloured Northern style mild, with aromas of caramel and fruit. Fresh berries and roasted malt explode in the mouth before turning dry and refreshingly moreish in the finish.

RCH Brewery - Hewish IPA (3.60%)

Named after the local village. A lighty, hopped bitter with a subtle sweetness and fruitful taste. Floral, citrus hop aroma all of which lasts well to the finish. A light brown colour.

Hornbeam Brewery - Lemon Blossom (3.70%)

A delicious light ale with an aroma of crisp citrus lemon. Perfectly balanced sweetness with delicate bitterness to finish. An exceptional pale ale that leaves you wanting another.

Bushy's - Manx Bitter (3.80%)

An aroma of pale malt and hops introduces you to a beautifully hoppy bitter beer, despite the predominant hop character, malt is also evident, fresh and clean tasting.

Bowman Ales - Swift One (3.80%)

A pale, golden quaffing ale with excellent flavours for its strength. Pleasingly hoppy throughout without being aggressive and also possessing of a fine aroma. The finish is dry with a small twist of sweetness at the end.

Goose Eye Brewery - Turkey's Revenge (3.90%)

Mid brown coloured bitter, malty on the palate, triple hopped to give a fruity lingering taste.

All Gates Brewery - Twitter & Busted (3.90%)

Pale Gold in colour and with a dry taste (not unlike Graham's humour) Twitter & BUSTED'S hop profile combines Challenger hops with Styrian Goldings to give spicy and floral notes.

Skinners Brewery - Betty Stogs (4.00%)

Classic pale amber mid strength bitter with distinct hoppy overtones. A beautifully balanced quaffing ale. Serve chilled if preferred. Contains Cornish malted barley and wheat. Bitter finish is slow to develop but long to fade.

Northumberland Brewery - Bucking Fastard (4.00%)

A refreshing floral hoppy session ale that has a surprising kick.

Allendale - Golden Plover (4.00%)

A top quality blonde beer made using only Marris Otter pale malt to give a light and refreshing clean taste. Moderately hopped with Challenger and delicate New Zealand Hallertau hops. Perfect for hot summer days!

Traditional Scottish Ales - Sporran Warmer Blonde (4.00%)

A delicious light ale with an aroma of crisp citrus lemon. Perfectly balanced sweetness with delicate bit- terness to finish.

Beartown Brewery - Bearskinful (4.20%)

Tawny beer with malt and fruit in the taste leading to a clean and uncompromisingly bitter hop finish.

William Bros Brewing Co - Williams 80/- (4.20%)

A traditional Scottish ale brewed with an emphasis on the malt characteristics. Lightly hopped, as is true to this style of beer, with fruity malt aromas and a toffeeish mouthfeel.

Hambleton Ales - Stud (4.30%)

This wonderfully smooth drinking beer began life as an 'Autumn Special' but immediately became the most popular special we have ever produced. Straw coloured, the Arome hops give a delicacy and subtlety to the robust full-bodied flavour.

Houston Brewing Company - Tartan Terror (4.50%)

A beautifully balanced mahogany coloured ale created with a fusion of selected malts and hops to create an outstanding malty, roast taste and a wonderful delicate aroma.

Lymestone Brewery - Ein Stein (5.00%)

This lingering combination of pale Maris Otter malts and choice German hops may make you pause for thought. As you contemplate the gentle biscuit malts, fresh Hersbrucker hops seduce the taste buds educating and enlightening the palate.

Breconshire Brewery - Ramblers Ruin (5.00%)

Dark amber, malty and well hopped with a beautifully balanced aftertaste; a Champion Old Ale. High percentages of Crystal and Black Malt create the malt/biscuit undertones, bitterness and aroma are provided by Goldings and First Gold amongst others.

Mauldons - Blackadder (5.30%)

A dark bitter stout. Roast and nut aromas with a fruity balance of hops and dark malt provide an excellent lingering finish.

Frog Island Brewery - Croak & Stagger (5.60%)

After an initial bitter, roasted taste, the full-bodied and robust malt flavours become more pronounced. These are complimented by the sweet, spicy character of Cascade hops and the bitterness of Target hops.

Little Valley Brewery - Python IPA (6.00%)

Light brown IPA. Powerful floral, minty and grassy aroma with a straw like colour and long bitter finish. Original IPA (stronger and very hoppy). This beer will easily survive a long journey to India.

Lager

Hacker-Pschorr - Oktoberfest Festival Bier (5.80%)

This darker amber Oktoberfest beer pours and smells great. It goes down quite smoothly and leaves a mild after taste. A very good beer.

Spaten Brewery - Oktoberfest Festival Bier (5.90%)

This beer tastes deliciously malty with a caramel sweetness at the finish and is balanced out by some hop presence.

Paulaner Brewery - Oktoberfest Bier (6.00%)

The Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier is festive, hearty and especially tasty. Over one million beer stiens of it are served at the Oktoberfest. A yellowy-gold seasonal speciality with a light hop taste.

Hofbrauhaus - Oktoberfest Bier (6.00%)

A light, clear yellow gold with a white head. There is a definite sense of balance to the malt sweet and the hop bitter. Excellent beer.

Lowenbrau - Oktoberfest Bier (6.10%)

Pours bright pale gold with lacy pure white head, Nose is mowed hay and lemon. Fresh bread malts with citrus zest and earthy spice hops to finish. Amazingly round and creamy on the palate. Slight peppery alcohol burn.

Cider

Westons - Country Perry (4.50%)

Made from perry pears and fullly matured in old oak vats to develop its strength and traditional character. Free from all artificial colouring, flavouring and sweetening it retains its natural pale colour.

Westons - Bounds Scrumpy (4.80%)

A crisp, dry, fruity, traditional, cloudy Scrumpy cider. Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs.
